War Against Drugs In Manipur

Manipur government is keen to deal with the drug menace in the state. In 2018, November 3, Chief Minister Shri Nongthombam Biren Singh has declared ‘War On Drugs’. He is ardent that state government and the security forces would strictly look into drug users and stringent action to drug peddlers. In a major haul for the State, on June 29, 2019, NAB with police team busted a brown sugar factory at Lilong in Thoubal district, worth Rs. 100 crore in the international market. For this, the state government had on July 16 honoured the team in a grand manner with Rs. 10 lakhs.

At the same time, self awareness of the end users and consumers also is vital to discourage and quit them from intake of drugs. Messages to be spread about ill effects to ones health should be spread wide and across the state in BOLD.

There is a pressing need to curb illegal drug trade specially transited through the borders, entering the mainland and getting transported to other states. Absolute vigilance and watch is required to burst any of the suspect if proved and caught faulty.
