Manipur is a multi-ethnic state located at the easternmost part of India. It has a total population of 28, 55,794 according to 2011 Census of India covering an area of 22,327 square kilometres. Out of this, 58.9% represents the valley population and 41.1% represents the population of the hills. Sangai Festival, the biggest annual cultural festival organized by Department of Tourism, Manipur is celebrated for 10 days every year in the fall of November in Imphal, the capital city of Manipur, with the finest aspiration to uphold Manipur as a world-class tourism destination staging the best of its art and culture, handloom and handicrafts, indigenous sports and various other traditional activities. This year the festival has shortened to only a week – from the 24th till 30th of November but has been expanded to other districts such as Bishnupur and Senapati keeping in view with the increasing number of visitors.
