Air. It is the basic essential element for every lifeforms on the surface of Earth. When harmful substances such as dust, smokes, fumes, and other foreign gases get introduced to air, it leads to air pollution which bears detrimental effects to plants, animals, humanity, and the environment as a whole.

On top of the rare natural causes of air pollution such as forest fires, volcanic eruptions and other gas leaks from natural process, human beings contribute a large amount to it through emissions from big manufacturing units such industries and factories, combustion of fossil fuels and usage of farming chemicals and household products on a daily basis.

We usually think we don’t witness its harmful effects on our day to day lives as it doesn’t bear immediate outcomes affecting on our health and well-being, thus, we all seem to care less about it. Little do we know it has become one of the world’s largest health and environmental problems today. The climatic changes taking place in every part of the globe is one of the simplest notable example for us to realize that we’re under the big threat.

In 2018, it was reported that out of the most polluted 30 cities in the world, 22 were in India. On the present, New Delhi, the capital of the nation, has been ranked first as the most air polluted city in the world.

On this note, share your suggestions and views (keeping in regards with the different roles that we as the citizens as well as the Government, on the other hand, should do to safeguard air from getting polluted in our cities.

Multiple steps needs to be taken to safeguard air from getting polluted. Using electric vehicles, planting more trees, avoiding burning of crop stubble, strictly implementing banning of emission norms violating vehicles, relying more on mass transporting systems, reducing usage of chemicals and fuels that increase carbon emission are few steps that shall be taken and strictly pursued. Relying more on solar energy can also help in reducing pollution to a large extent.
