Every year close to 300,000 women lose their life due to pregnancy or childbirth each year, while over 2 million babies die in their first month of life and around 2 million more are stillborn. As per the data from 2020, the infant mortality rate in Manipur is 6 deaths for every 1000 lives. And the maternal mortality rate as per the data from 2010-2011, is 64 – 80. This data is only through the accounted ones, as many went unaccounted, and unchecked.

The concern here arises is how safe are expecting mothers and their babies are. Join us in discussing this further, share your ideas and suggestions to improve the healthcare system in our State to improve the environment for an expecting mother, new mother and their new-born babies.

How to be a good mother to a newborn baby?
1. Talk to your baby.
2. Answer when your baby makes sounds by repeating the sounds and adding words.
3. Read to your baby.
4. Sing to your baby and play music.
5. Praise your baby and give them lots of loving attention.
6. Spend time cuddling and holding your baby.
