Rajkumar Chandrajitsana Singh: A Historian on Canvas

Rajkumar Chandrajitsana Singh, popularly known as RKCS, is a legendary doyen in the field of fine arts in Manipur. He is noted as the finest artist of his time in entire North-Eastern India. His reputation is confined not only to Manipur and many non-locals pay a visit to Manipur to see his artworks every year. His paintings are presented as a state gift by the Government of Manipur to national and foreign delegates.

The Legacy of Khongjom War

The Battle of Khongjom has remained one of the most important events in the history of Manipur. Historians noted the battle as one of the fiercest battles in the history of India’s freedom struggle. The Khongjom battle bequeathed to Manipuris a legacy of patriotism and heroism. The heroism of the gallant warriors is being passed down through generations in the form of a traditional ballad ‘Khongjom Parva’. Every year, on the 23rd of April, the whole state of Manipur pays homage to those great warriors at the Khongjom War Memorial Complex.

In the form of folklores, art forms like dance, drama, music, etc., and events and festivals such as Lai Haraoba, HeikruHidongba, MeraHouChongba, etc the cultural and historical glory of the Manipuris have been passed down and preserved through generations.
