The main attraction of Ningol Chakouba is the feast which consists of an amazing variety of traditional Manipuri cuisines. Aside from the common Indian dishes, the menu includes Manipuri conventional dishes like Nga thongba (classic fish curry), Chamthong (a healthy vegetable stew), Iromba (a delightful combination of boiled vegetables and fermented/ roasted fish), Chakempomba (a curry of brewers rice and leafy vegetables), and Sinju (Manipuri salad bursting with vegetables) etc.

Ningol Chakouba is a festival to mark the ‘invitation of daughters to lunch or dinner in parents’ house’. ‘Ningol’ means daughter and ‘Chakouba’ means an invitation to lunch or dinner. The festival is meant for married daughters who are invited by their brothers or the parents in the absence of brothers.

NINGOL Chakkouba is one among the most important traditional/indigenous festival of Meeteis community. It is assume as the biggest festival for the ningols. It is celebrated only once in a year in the favourable month of "Hiyangei" neeni panba (November).

truly admire the whole idea and concept of Ningol Chakouba. I personally feel it's more than just a celebration and every year is different, special and meaningful. Ningol Chakouba has become even more significant as everyone lives a fast life and this festival helps us to take a day to appreciate and spend time with our families

निंगोल चकुबा या चकौबा या हियांगी निनी पांबा एक त्योहार है, जिसे मणिपुरी लोगों द्वारा मणिपुरी कैलेंडर के हियांगी महीने के दूसरे चंद्र दिवस में मनाया जाता है। त्योहार विवाहित महिलाओं और उनके पितृ परिवारों के बीच प्यार के बंधन को मजबूत करने के विषय में मनाया जाता है

...When I went to my sister’s house to invite them for Ningol Chaouba with a Kwa matam, my heart pounds with joy when I saw my nephew and my sister's happy faces. It’s an overwhelming feeling when I myself cooked and prepared for the feast of Ningol Chakouba. The stories and jokes which make the day and the laughter that meets the end of the day are just some of the few things which cannot be left out un-mention. Ningol Chakouba is always the best day of my life every year.
