Due to increase in the population and number of vehicles, efficient traffic management, especially in the urban and metro areas, towns and cities in India have become a topmost priority for the smooth functioning of road transport in the part of the government. But traffic violations by the citizens also have been in the rise in recent years due to which road accidents and mortality rate have been increased year by year and become a serious social hazard.
To combat with this serious issue, the Government of India has amended the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 and the new Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act 2019 was published on 9th August in The Gazette of India and has been in implementation all over India since 1st September 2019 under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
The new Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act 2019 has imposed heavy fines, penalties and punishment for the violations of traffic rules & regulations to ensure efficient, safe and corruption-free transport system in the country. It has increased the fines & penalties many times to keep the offenders in check strictly.
Manipur Government has also implemented this Act with immediate effect and published a notification on 7 September 2019 by which it delegates power to officers of transport department and traffic control police of the state in the strict implementation of the new traffic rules and impose fines & penalties on the offenders.
On this regard, we invite the citizens of Manipur to put forward their views & opinions on the implementation of the new traffic rules in the state according to the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act 2019. Will the implementation of the Act be able to streamline the traffic issues in the state by enforcing the offenders to abide by the traffic rules or do we need more corrective measures to be taken to enhance the smooth functioning of the system?
We, as citizens, all have a responsibility towards the enhancement of road safety. So, join the discussion forum and provide your suggestions.

According to my suggestion and point of view the most important aspects in life is to be safe and make other families safe from wrong sided decision and discussion on phone. Life is single don't try to be too smart, accident and incident don't come after knocking the door. so be very alert while walking or driving on roads. In each signal there should be a sign board of Helmet and a slogan " safe drive save life and be happy with your wife ( and family) jai hind ..@ nasim

am proposing a slogan which is catchy and easy to understand for everybody. This slogan should be written compulsorily behind every 4 wheeler vehicle of government and private. The slogan also should be written to every crossing in English and Local language. This will make public conscious about road safety and traffic rules. The slogan is "SAFE DRIVE SAVE LIFE".

Traffic police should be with lesser dresses, care on zobra crossing, pedestrian bridge, traffic control poststo avoid road accident and speed limits are bare necessities. Highway Traffic control mobile vans, free medical care to accident victims and city mobile vans are recommended. Awareness programs and social education should be encouraged to traffic options. Debate, discussion on media, a magazine on traffic should be encouraged. Traffic rules and traffic control mechanism should be notice

Traffic is indispensable to carry state smooth run. On little traffic should be aware of helmet, driving licence, no right hand drive, no minor should be, pollution certificate and more traffic posts and traffic police should be an additional support. On lite Seminar on traffic is invitable. People voice and opinions should be recorded for further modifications. Loaded vehicles should be charged. Mild horn should be encouraged. No fog lights or over decorative vehicle should be permitted.

Reasons for mishaps over speeding , drunk driving , Talking on phone while .driving, Driving without helmet, Driving i the wrong direction of traffic flow , jumping signal. 30% of victims are pedestrians
I therefore request you to see that our state government does More Awareness programs, Introduce Lane driving by doing Road widenings, Wide foot paths and Zebra crossings for pedestrians all over the city. Lazer guns within the city roads as well along with all National high ways.

License procedure and be made tough, Awareness on all Accident porne areas etc should be done immediately by the government to reduce Road Accidents.
Foot over bridges and sky walks should be constructed across the roads in city that witness heavy traffic , the sky walks will come up at busy junctions.unlike convectional foot over bridges , which facilitate pedestrians crossing the road from one side to the other , the sky walks will help them alight at the desired road side at junctions.

Road Traffic injuries, are one of the leading deaths in India. Some of the reasons behind roads accidents are Reckless driving, not having proper infrastructure, Due to absence of footpaths ,zebra crossing in many places and encroached footpaths ,pedestrians are forced to walk on Roads, Drunken driving, overspeed, cellphone driving. Awareness on Road Accidents is very less .In my view Wide Roads, introducing lane driving for two wheelers, four wheelers, keeping speed controllers everywhere
